Connection to CRM 2011 doesn't work

Thanks for the Toolbox. There are many useful features.
We have been able to connect to CRM 2013 without any issues.
However when trying to connect to CRM 2011 it returns an error:
Test connection failed: Remote server returned error: (404) Not found.

When managing connections this same connection is able to "Get Orgs.".
Selecting the (only) organisation in the list successes, but after returning back
to update the connection there is no value in Organization field.

Please help with this. We have an urgent need to export some N:N relationships
from CRM 2011.

Hi Welat,

This generally means that your deployment is badly configured (ie, you are accessing your server with a DNS alias but the discovery service returns the true server name that you can't resolve).

Please fix your deployment in Deployment Manager (right click on root node, Properties, then "Web address" tab)

tanguy, is there a way to catch these types of exceptions, and display the proper solution? Might save you from getting all these "I can't connect" messages.

Yes, I could compare host name provided in connection form and host name returned by discovery service. If they don't match and an exception is throwned, I could explain this potential cause
