Cannot Connect to CRM

I have multiple organizations in my deployment, running IFD. Here is the info I am entering. It will not allow me to get to a different organization. Here is the info I am entering:

Name TEst
Server Info IFD
Server Name //this worked at one point, but not consistently.
Home Realm left blank
Authentication Custom Authentication
Domain, Logon and Password entered
Select Organization List of orgs comes up, I select the one I want (same as customername) and I get a connection error "An error occurred when selecting organization.

If I create a new connection using a different organization, it fails.

I was running the tool on the application server. changed to working on local machine, and it did allow me to connect to the other organizations that way.
